| Spring Performances |
| “SHOWTIME 2012!” June 8-10 |
Spring performances include all classes with the exception of graded ballet classes from Primary Ballet to Advanced Ballet. This includes tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, preschool, kinder combo, musical theatre…
The "Let's Dance!" performances are offered on the odd years in conjunction with our costumed full-length ballet.
The "Let's Dance!" performance does not have formal costumes, and dancewear is utilized.
The "SHOWTIME" production is every even year and will coincide with the simple ballet concert year, which is not costumed. All "SHOWTIME" dancers will order a performance costume in the late fall and winter for this spring performance. During a "SHOWTIME" year, we will be measuring students during class in November and December, and we will be placing an early costume order before we begin our winter break at a discounted early-order costume rate. Late costume orders may be placed through January with higher costume fees.
"Let's Dance!" and "SHOWTIME!" performances are divided into several different performances to meet the needs of each of our dance groups and their families. There are two different Evening Performances, three different Preschool Shows, and a Matinee.
“SHOWTIME 2012!” June 8-10• Performance Information •
To find details of your performance information, login to your dance account. Scroll down to Step 4 "Review Class Enrollment" and beneath this you will find a link, "Click here to view events that students are in, and costumes that the students will need for these events." Here you will find the performance event date and time, place, and music and artist for each class involved in a performance. Costume info including type of shoes will be listed below this.
• Volunteers •
We need several parent volunteers to produce each performance.
Volunteer jobs include dancer supervision, escorting dancers to and from the stage, selling tickets at the performance, ushering, altering costumes, and more.
• Tickets •
Tickets are sold for each performance to cover the cost of theatre rental and technical staffing. Advance ticket sales will be online through our website three weeks prior to our performance. Orchestra seating is always reserved, so the best seats are available in advance. Online sales will cease at midnight the day prior to each performance, and tickets will be sold at the door 30 minutes before each show at $5-$10 more than the online price. There are processing fees imposed by the ticketing company when you order tickets online, but it will still be cheaper and allow for the best seat selection.
• Dress Rehearsal •
The last dance class before the performance will be a "studio dress rehearsal" and dancers should attend their regular class in full costume and hair that will be worn at the performance. A Theatre Dress Rehearsal will be scheduled for the Smithwick Theatre performances at Foothill College. There is no theatre dress rehearsal for the Preschool performances.
• Cast Details •
Details and Information Our website will be updated to include more detailed information on each performance, and information will also be sent via email to each class if your dance account is set to receive emails from Dance Connection.
PRESCHOOL SHOW
We are pleased to present a wonderful performing experience for your preschool child at the Cubberley Theatre. We have three different preschool performances, and each class is assigned to only one performance time. Each of our three performances is one hour in length, and includes three to five preschool classes as well as some of our Performing Company, Ballet Company, or Dance Team selections.
The performance times will be: 11:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m.
Each preschool class will learn a routine that they will perform. Children will also learn about the performance itself. When children are prepared for performing on a stage, they will have a more successful experience. Performing is a very rewarding and confidence building event, and here at Dance Connection, we do everything possible to make every child's "first performance" (or second performance) special and memorable. There is no dress rehearsal or extra rehearsals, and all dancers remain backstage for the one hour duration of the performance.
Parent volunteers are needed backstage for each performance, and parents will receive information on our online volunteering system if they wish to help in any capacity. Please view the general performance information for further performance details.
